Player Analysis

This page contains articles that I’ve done that are all about a particular player. The pieces contain in-depth analysis of how they play the game.

Mezut Özil: a in-depth look at his game
Starting off with Mezut Özil, an attacking midfielder who plays for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. I look at few of his standout performances over the past twelve months, against England in the U21 European Championships and a 6-0 drubbing of Freiburg where he created four goals and scored one himself.

Talking Tactics: David Silva and player movement
Here’s a piece I did for BackPage Football, looking at David Silva’s strengths and weaknesses, in preparation for his move to Manchester City in the summer of 2010.

A replacement for Özil? Stop the Hunt now, Werder Bremen have one in their ranks.
After Bremen lost Özil, they were in need for an attacking midfielder who could replace his presence. I argue the case that Aaron Hunt could be that person.
